If you create a NEXT account
Google account and Google Calendar data
This section describes exactly how NEXT handles information from your Google account, and applies only if you choose to use Google.
Signing in with Google. NEXT asks Google for three basic permissions — your sign-in identity, your basic profile and your email address. From these Google provides your name, your email address, whether Google has confirmed that address, and the account identifier Google uses for you. NEXT stores them to create and recognise your account. The access token Google issues during sign-in is used to complete the sign-in and then discarded; it is never stored. Signing in with Google does not give NEXT access to your Google Calendar, and does not ask for it.
Connecting Google Calendar is separate and optional. It is a second, different permission that you grant later from your account page, on its own Google consent screen. It is never required to make a booking: booking as a guest, and booking while signed in, both work without it. If you connect it, NEXT adds each of your NEXT appointments to your calendar and keeps that entry up to date if you reschedule or cancel.
What the calendar permission allows, and what NEXT actually does. NEXT requests one calendar permission, which Google describes as permission to create, change and delete the calendar events you own. NEXT uses only a narrow part of what that permission allows: its calendar code makes three kinds of request — create one event, update one event by the identifier it stored when creating it, and delete that same event. It never lists, searches or reads your calendar, so it never sees events it did not create for your appointments. That limit comes from how NEXT is built rather than from a restriction Google places on the permission, which is why NEXT states it as a description of its own behaviour.
What NEXT writes into your calendar. Each entry contains the service or services booked, the barber, the salon name and address, and the appointment start and end time. Entries are added to your primary Google Calendar.
What NEXT stores when you connect a calendar: the access token and refresh token Google issues, the permission Google granted, the Google account identifier, which calendar to write to, and the connection status and timestamps.
Both tokens are encrypted before they are written to the database, so a database dump or a backup archive contains unusable ciphertext rather than working credentials. They are also excluded from NEXT’s own API responses, so they cannot be returned to a browser.
For each appointment, NEXT stores the identifier of the calendar entry it created. That identifier is what lets NEXT update or cancel exactly that entry, and is the reason no search of your calendar is ever needed.
How Google data is used. It is used only to sign you in and to keep your NEXT appointments in your calendar. It is not used for advertising, is not used to build a profile of you, is not sold, and is not used to train artificial-intelligence models.
Sharing and transfer. NEXT does not share your Google data with other companies for their own purposes. It is handled by the infrastructure that runs the booking system — the hosting provider whose servers hold the database, listed among the services above — because that is what makes the service work at all. That is processing on NEXT’s behalf, not sale or advertising use.
Disconnecting, and what is kept. When you disconnect Google Calendar from your account page, NEXT asks Google to revoke the authorisation and then deletes the stored access and refresh tokens, so it can no longer reach your calendar. Appointments already added to your calendar stay there: they are real appointments, and removing them without being asked would be worse than leaving them. NEXT keeps the record linking each appointment to the calendar entry it created, so that if you reconnect later it updates those entries instead of creating duplicates. To have your account and its records removed altogether, ask the salon using the contact details at the end of this page.
NEXT’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
